The Companion G2 - 200W Nanuk 903 (Battery Version)
The Companion G2 - 200W Nanuk 903 (Battery Version)
The Companion G2 is an evolution of the original Companion, a small 200W charge case capable of running on AC and DC power. The G2 update brings an even smaller form factor (Nanuk 903 vs 904 of the original Companion), a new charger with more features and higher maximum current, a refined look and thermal design, and two parallel output ports.
In addition, The Companion G2 now comes in two versions: One that runs on AC and DC just like the original, as well as a battery-only powered version for completely portable charging!
This is the Battery Version: It is configured to have an internal LiPo/LiIon/LiFe battery, up to two typical 6s 5000mAh size packs, making it a completely portable mini charging station - perfect for outings at the field flying smaller aircraft without needing to run a generator, or charging RX/ECU batteries without removing them from the aircraft. It has connectors on the face of the deck that can be used to charge the battery without removal. READ URGENT WARNING BELOW.
Full Features/Specs:
Nanuk 903 Hard Case, IP67 Waterproof + Dustproof
Nanuk Hard Cases are renowned for being extremely robust, resistant to wear and tear, and long lasting, and with the built-in screw holes, they are extremely well suited to being used for charge cases.
Optimized for High Power Density (Small Case, Big Power)
We pack as much power as we reasonably can into our charge cases. By utilizing the interior lid space with a unique 3D printed riser-style deck instead of having a simple flat panel deck, we can squeeze bigger power supplies and bigger chargers into our cases. In this case (pun intended), it means room for larger batteries inside the case. The main tradeoff is the lack of storage space - you will need to find somewhere else to put your power cord and charge leads. For most people, this is only a mild tradeoff, as we already bring other tool/field boxes to the field anyway.
Fits Over 10,000mAh of 6s LiPo
The Companion (Battery Version) has no power supply, but instead leaves the entire inside of the lower part of the case open to fit a big chunk of battery inside. Charge without the need for AC power and without a separate battery - it's built right in! Simply connect your battery to the male XT60 and Balance lead extension inside the case and off you go. On the inside of the case, there is a XT60 male input lead as well as a 6s balance extension for connecting your LiPo(s) to the case.
ToolKitRC M7 200W Smart Charger
The ToolKitRC M7 charger used in the Companion charge case is a tiny but mighty smart charger capable of delivering up to 200W @ 10A of charging power. When running on a battery in DC mode, it can also be used to recycle power - you can discharge unused packs into the input battery. The DC input of this charger is configured by us to default to 6s LiPo min/max voltages - min 21.5V max 25.2V - with Recycle mode enabled. You may change these manually if desired, but the defaults are safe for regular 6s LiPos.
Easy Internal Battery Access
To charge the case, just flip the switch to the down position, which connects the internal battery to the panel mount female XT60 connector in the top left of the deck. Flip up the TPU protective cover, and then use the included 8" charge lead (including Balance) to plug into any 6s LiPo charger to charge it back up whenever needed. (Do not charge at more than 10A)
Dual XT60 Output Connectors for Simplified Charging
The Companion G2 has two outputs, put together in series. This means you can charge two batteries at the same time without needing an external parallel adapter. The JST ports are de-keyed so that you can plug any cell count from 2s-6s into them.
URGENT WARNING
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TREAT THIS CASE AS THE BARE, UNPROTECTED LIPO THAT IT IS. LIPOS ARE DANGEROUS. THIS CASE IS NOT FIREPROOF AND WILL NOT CONTAIN A LIPO FIRE. It is highly recommended that you only keep a battery inside the case when it is actively in use, such as at a fun fly, or an outing at the flying field. If you choose to keep the battery inside the case all the time, store the case itself in a LiPo-safe place just like you would any other LiPo pack. This case is not fireproof and will not contain a LiPo fire. The case comes with four Philips screws to secure the deck to the case when in use. These are optional, but are preinstalled to protect the deck during shipping. The charger has a minimum input voltage setting that will tell it to stop charging when the internal battery is low, but it cannot completely shut off and will continue to pull small amounts of current, as will the case fan. The case has no total system undervoltage protection and it will overdischarge the internal battery completely if left powered on.
Be aware that because every case is made to order and often customized in several ways, the photos may not perfectly reflect what you get, including not only colors but USB module versions, different inlet styles, and different availability of various components. If you have any questions, please ask us.
We do not keep stock of cases nor components. Due to the low order volume of charge cases, each case is built individually to order. This allows easy customization requests and changes to the case design. Due to the MTO nature of charge cases, there can be up to a 1 month lead time before shipping after you place your order, especially with more complex customizations like component substitutions. There is a $200 order cancellation fee if you decide you do not want the case after your order is placed. NO EXCEPTIONS
